Three years ago today the world lost its Star Man. I won’t lie: I could never call myself a Bowie “fan”. I appreciated his music, and he was an icon – but I never got into him as many did. There’s a multitude of possible reasons for that.
But I did fall in love with what Bowie stood for, and many of the things that his work inspired – individuality, for one, and the stories of Gene Hunt and friends in Life on Mars and Ashes to Ashes. Captivating. I was also lucky enough to see Bowie’s musical, Lazarus, in London just before it closed in December 2018.
It’s also the first of a fun run of night shifts. Wish me luck, pals.
